Doryssa Hotel

At Doryssa Seaside Resort in Samos, a village of small houses, lanes and squares recalls the island’s vernacular settlements. Esé Studio’s proposal reinterprets this character at the scale of a single guest room, drawing on research into Samiot domestic interiors, local crafts and the colours and textures of the landscape.

Dark timber elements define the walls and ceiling, alongside softly textured plaster, green marble flooring, woven textiles and a freestanding cabinet. References to traditional cabinetry, fabric dividers and decorative patterns are brought into a contemporary interior with a distinctly domestic atmosphere.

Developed as a pilot proposal, the study was conceived as the first step towards a potential refurbishment of the Village’s remaining cottages.
