Plaka Residences

Set into the hillside above Plaka, opposite the island of Spinalonga, this ongoing commission comprises four earth-sheltered residences. The architecture follows the contours of the terrain, arranging the houses as a sequence of horizontal volumes embedded within the slope. Planted roofs extend the landscape over the buildings, while stone walls establish a material continuity with the rocky setting.

The design explores the relationship between enclosure and openness. Recessed living spaces open onto shaded terraces and pools, framing views towards the sea. Deep openings and the rhythm of solid and void articulate the façades, mediating between the intimacy of the interiors and the expansive coastal landscape.
